5/25/2023 0 Comments Graphic Design by Ellen Lupton![]() ![]() While at the Herb Lubalin Study Center, Lupton curated a number of exhibitions about imagery and design history and theory: Global Signage: Semiotics and the Language or International Pictures (1986), The Bauhaus and Design Theory from Preschool to Postmodernism (1991), and Graphic Design in the Netherlands (1992). Her path changed at Cooper Union Herb Lubalin Study Center of Design and Typography, where she launched her career in typography, writing and design. Lupton began as an art major at Cooper Union in 1981. ![]() Currently, Lupton is the curator of contemporary design at Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, and the director of the Graphic Design MFA program at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. She is an accomplished AIGA gold medalist, frequent lecturer, and strong figure within the design community. Lupton is a graphic designer, artist, writer, critic, curator, and educator.
